SAF-T Norway
Importent notice – new version from 1. january 2025
SAF-T Financial for Norway has been revised and updated. The new form (version name 1.30) is required from the 1th of January 2025. The new format can be used before this date if it is preferable.
The new form does not offer full back compatibility because of the scope of the changes made. The old form (version 1.20) can still be used for previous years (financial year 2024 and before).
About SAF-T
SAF-T is a harmonization for a simpler exchange of data with the authorities. SAF-T is a standard defined by the OECD. A total of 19 data areas are defined.
Norway has chosen to use 7 data areas. It has been a statutory requirement in Norway since 1 January 2020 that Norwegian companies must be able to provide accounting figures in the SAF-T format on request.
If the company has a Microsoft Dynamics AX version 2012R3, it contains an older version of SAF-T. It is not recommended to try to use the standard Dynamics 2012R3’s SAF-T solution. This will create an unnecessarily large set-up work on a solution that does not meet the requirements and that has major problems with large amounts of data,
Our experience with this solution is not good in terms of speed with large amounts of data, lack of functionality. difficult setup and maintenance of the module, failure to handle OneVoucher in financial records.
Moreover, the version is no longer supported by Microsoft, so new requirements and changes are at the company’s own expense.
There is a difference between the individual countries as to how much they implement. Despite the OECD having drawn up a good and usable standard, there are individual variations for the different countries.
Our experience from Norway shows that there are great demands on the speed of the solution when exporting data. The full package with all 19 data areas will place even greater demands on the speed of the solution. From 1 January 2025, a number of new requirements and changes will come into force in Norway. The new “SAF-T Financial schema, v.1.30” will be mandatory from 1 January 2025. Until 1 January 2025, it will be voluntary to use the old or the new format.
There are quite a few minor changes, but there are also major changes that come into effect and must be adhered to. One of the biggest is that you can no longer report financial figures directly via the financial account chart, but you must use account categories.
As the authorities write “Removed choice of mapping to Standard chart of accounts. The only valid mapping option now is mapping to the business statement using the elements <GroupingCategory> and <GroupingCode>.” In Norwegian it is called “Næringsspesifikasjoner”. If you have a solution that is not supported, you will bear the development costs yourself.
axsolution’s SAF-T module will support all the new changes.
